dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
before booting, BIOS was set to "disabled" for floppy
repeat of last test, only this time only KDE partition manager will be loaded (again)
no delay or issue at all with https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890236
before BIOS change there was still a long delay; this time NO delay.

dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
repeat of last test, only this time only KDE partition manager will be loaded, same result as last time, or https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890236.

before the system booted, I looked in BIOS & the floppy is set to "internal" (despite box not have floppy), which maybe reason for issue... I'll change setting to disable floppy & re-try, or my current intention

I left the room the box has, came to this room to report repeat of error, logged this session has having the same bug, spend awhile here typing & when I return - issue has gone & kde partition manager is waiting for me. Failure to re-create it turns out, just very slow & HANG on the /dev/fd0

dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
(i need a 20.04 for a d745 question, so I'll do the qa-test at the same time)
I won't list what I did, various things.. related to support (mainly exploration)
opened a few random apps; including KDE partition manager which never loaded - https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890236. This is an issue which has occurred before (on d755-5 I believe, or a different but similar box), this box doesn't even have a floppy though! (waiting for /dev/fd0 window reports & stops dead)
