- Boot up the iso using a CD/DVD or USB Key to a Live Session
- The system boots properly and loads the installer displaying Welcome dialog with language selection and 'Try Ubuntu' and 'Install Ubuntu' buttons
- Double click on the Install Ubuntu icon
- The 'Preparing to install Ubuntu' screen is displayed
- On the screen Preparing to install Ubuntu, note the state of each check mark for the following components
- Your system have at least the amount a space indicated
- Is plugged to a power source
- Is connected to the Internet
- Check marks represent the state of your system accurately
- Click on the continue button
- The 'Installation type' screen is displayed
- Note the state of the 'Erase disk and install Ubuntu' radio button
- The 'Erase disk and install Ubuntu' radio button should be checked
- Click on the continue button (if there is only one hard disk in the system, the button should read 'Install now')
- If there is only one hard disk, the installer should skip to the "Where are you?' screen. Otherwise, the 'Installation type' screen is displayed
- If there is only one hard disk, skip to step 10 (On the 'Where are you?' screen...). Otherwise, on the 'Installation type' screen verify that the drive selected on the Select drive list corresponds to the drive on the chart (e.g /dev/sda)
- Selected drive is displayed on the chart
- Verify that the full drive space is allocated
- Full drive space is allocated for installation
- Click on Install Now button
- The 'Where are you?' screen is displayed
- On the 'Where are you?' screen, if your system is connected to the network, note the preselected timezone correspond with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box
- The timezone and city displayed match your timezone and a city from your area
- Click on the map to a different timezone of your choice
- The the corresponding city is displayed in the text field and the new timezone is selected
- Re-enter the name of a city from your area
- The input field and a drop down list opens with a list of items matching the name you entered
- Select the name of the city from your area
- The timezone and city are update to your new selection
- Click on the continue button
- The 'Keyboard Layout' screen appears
- Note the Keyboard layout and variant, and type some characters in the test area
- Correct keyboard layout and variant are selected from timezone information by default, and the proper characters display when typed
- Click on Detect Keyboard Layout and answer to the questions asked
- The proposed keyboard corresponds to your keyboard
- Click on continue
- The 'Who are you?' screen appears
- Input your initial user details and password (Note admin can not be used - it is a dedicated Linux User)
- Name, username and password are accepted. Additionally, the continue button is enabled
- Click on the continue button
- If your hardware contains a webcam, you should see a "Choose your picture" screen appear. Otherwise, skip the next step, and proceed to the 'welcome to ubuntu ' slide
- Use the Take Photo button to take a picture of yourself
- The picture should appear in the box, and upon reboot should display next to your username
- Click on the continue button
- The 'Welcome to Ubuntu ' slide is displayed
- Wait for the installation to proceed and the slide to change automatically
- The slideshow appears correct, the installer displays installation details along the bottom and the slideshow changes slides
- Click the left and right arrow buttons next to the slides
- The slide changes slides in the proper direction as indicated by the click
- Wait for the installer to finish
- An 'Installation Complete' dialog appears
- Click the Restart now button
- GUI is shut down, a prompt to remove media and press Enter appears
- Remove the disc and press enter
- The machine has been rebooted
- Allow the machine to reboot
- The system boots properly and loads into ubuntu
