i'm re-using partitions from prior QA test installs; no ESP exists as this box doesn't require one (likely was a Lubuntu install that doesn't create an ESP)
this install feels very slow... I've cancelled the screensaver twice thus far... (which is normal for a lubuntu install), but the calamares installer gives me a % figure & progressive filling-bar-graph as install completes that makes it feel like progress is occurring... I've swapped from viewing the slideshow to commands, but still no obvious % complete which i feel would be 'nice'
i'm now convinced this install is slower than a lubuntu install; as three screensaver blanks have been killed; but this wasn't just a full-disk install so comparison with that install (if that's what I'm comparing it too) would be unfair; but 2x screensaver-kills is max i believe for all lubuntu install types.. but not a problem as we don't install systems often!
I got bored so didn't wait an hour for it to complete; but was most of an hour.... no INSTALL COMPLETED message, no CLICK TO REBOOT etc dialog ... I just closed the installer & told system to reboot manually.
Reboot, login & all looks as it should
Allowed upgrades to complete; gave some details etc.. & all looks good... Some minor graphic glitches (appearing onscreen icons) but I'll ignore that as that's graphics only related.. (this box had issues when it used nvidia card for awhile thus change to this old-AMD card..
I didn't format, and various of my files match the install made 1-March-2023 (not today!!) so file metadata on /home all looks as it should for a re-install (no format!). I did not have any additional packages installed to check they were auto-re-installed though ::( (but prior install was lubuntu; I can add packages NOW on Ubuntu Desktop then re-install again without format & look)
