Yet another quick test of the power off bug 1925314
Waited five minutes after selecting power off - circling ubuntu TM - gave up waiting pressed enter and the machine powered off.

during boot, CD/DVD tray ejects - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1942299
adjusted displays to match setup (swap left-right, my-right is portrait-right with gnome)
on shutdown; stuck at plymouth screen with twirly thing circling endlessly...
(this box was left at final screen ~20 mins; I walked away and forgot about it.. no change on return but shutdown quickly post-ENTER being pressed)

this boot is intended more for play with gnome
change display setup to match my config, change loads of settings
nautilus, navigate to internal drives & open various files using installed apps
media keys could adjust music volume, mute/unmute etc

(using these boxes because they're the lubuntu boxes used in last QA-test installs where bug was encountered.. I'd prefer other faster boxes for GNOME if given choice)
box has booted up, I won't explore on this box, as I recall graphics issues and I don't want to run across them... i'll let box sit 3-4 mins idle then shutdown. rhythmbox started so operation looks good with that limited test.
@ 10:57 the plymouth was on screen...(ie. shutdown started)
@ 11:02 i plan pressing enter.. so far ubuntu logo centre-upper; spinning twirly with ubuntuTM bottom centered just like other boxes..

i'll repeat test of prior one, but will only wait ~5 mins this time
gets to VAIO top; circling plymouth with ubuntuTM at bottom & sits there.
lubuntu impish stopped at black screen on my last QA-test on this box (if I recall correctly)

bdmurray asked if https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1925314 was occurring with ubuntu, so this is exploration of that. this is box that I last performed QA-test install to & encountered issue (lubuntu impish)
greeted by a black background, and internal crash (cannot report as packages are outdated it reports)..
nautilus has detected floppy disk; unexpected (but I've left floppy in drive to test calamares issue), cannot mount it - but floppy may have had sectors (esp. 0) re-written many times due to calamares bug (now fixed) so ignoring it..
except for no background (which changed okay; the first time anyway - six more changes and either had black screen or block-partial-image only..) all is good; albeit slow on this box
power off - the real test... @10:30 (AEST) plymouth appeared in shutting down; will give it 10 mins
@10:36 the ubuntu logo is @ top, ubuntuTM at bottom and still circling... with lubuntu the circling freezes.. 4 mins remain though for 10 min wait (before I'll hit enter even though nothing has shown)
@ 10:40 i pressed enter and box turned off promptly.
