dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)
I want to get a clean test... adjust displays to match my setup (landscape + portrait)
thunar to explore hdd & open some files using installed apps; that didn't work as I'd not restored my test files after last qa-test install.
change wallpapers & generic user play
firefox; stream local news in window, maximized, f11 & fullscreen on each display
suspend system, wait, resume & everything was good.

dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)
hopefully a clean test, will boot adjusting displays (landscape+portrait) then mount hdd (thunar) & play same files (mp3, mkv in parole) in background whilst I do pre-bed chores...
perfect (one or more files wouldn't play, but I was quick in selecting files to play)
media keys could adjust volume up/down/mute/unmute
suspended system, waited, it resumed briefly with missing only a touch of audio...
I forgot to close parole before shutting down, so it wouldn't shutdown - ie. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parole/+bug/1228627

dell vostro 430 (i7-870, 8gb, nvidia geforce gt 6600 gt)
I was forced to reboot due to lock up in prior qa-test, so system was rebooted so I could `ubuntu-bug`...
this time there were differences though, menu items didn't have icons, and ctrl+alt+T didn't open term (it did last time), ie https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1827459
suspended system again, waited, resumed & no repeat of http://launchpad.net/bugs/1866172 this time. I looked at 'nouveau' was being used (didn't look last time before it locked up)

the system was suspend twice before I decided to fix icons on display, icons in menu and get my ctrl+alt+T working with `xfsettingsd --replace`, all icons & ctrl+alt+T now worked :)
out of interest I suspended again, picture resumed normally, but mouse movements were now very very slow, with mouse-pointer frequently disappearing from screen for long periods, it'd reappear and ignore my movements, then become ultra-sluggish... as if system was thrashing (out of memory & constantly paging to disk).. but hdds on system are not mine (windows only) so no page file; nor does the thumb-drive have a LED so no real clues. Keyboard appeared dead, so I just ended test.. I'll pass and ignore the last suspend test.
