alas this box booted without networking (hardware issue; why I replaced it with d960 as my primary box), yet `lshw` detects the NIC so ??? just rebooting & currently blaming my hardware.. i played awhile before I detected in firefox that I didn't have networking - all great otherwise.
rebooted & started with firefox this time
firefox; stream abc (au) news in window maximized, f11 & fullscreen (drm enabled to allow it)
thunar; explore hdd & open various files (wav, mp3, txt, pdf etc) using installed apps
suspend system, waited, resumed (power button) & session continued with parole resuming mp3
play with screensaver; change of window manager settings,
shutdown - screen sat still for some time (I didn't walk away for this one) and parole crash as per other prior box - http://launchpad.net/bugs/1228627

I tried to change setup of my displays (swap left & right; my-right is portrait-left tilted and on hitting 'apply' the window just stops... :(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1821652)
ctrl+alt+T doesn't work either - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1827459
i now notice main menu doesn't have all icons visible (eg. no icon for terminal, no icon for help, no icon for web browser, other items have icons)
on entering `xfsettinsd --replace &` the 'apply pressed ~2 mins ago takes effect, ctrl+alt+T now work, the menu items all have icons :)
(so far it's ~identical to d780; except this box boots to both screens mirrored by default; so I unclicked the mirror checkbox before getting to move screens, this also doesn't require me to swap left-right; but as this box shares displays with d780 it's identical setup)
firefox; stream au news (had to enable drm) in window, maxmized, f11 & fullscreen on each display
thunar, open hdd & open a few random files in installed apps (txt, pdf, mp3 etc)
suspended system, waited, it resumed but parole no longer was playing with audio
fix by loading `pavucontrol` (last tab - configurations) & toggling profile off/analogue-stereo - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1816394
:( box didn't shutdown, it's done this before too... eventually parole crash window appears.. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parole/+bug/1228627

suspended system, waited, on resume (power button) session resumed except news had no sound. refresh of firefox page (tried twice) didn't help. I fixed using `pavucontrol` (configuration tab) by toggling builtin-audio to off then back to analogue-stereo... I also noted cedar-hdmi-audio was set to off; I don't recall seeing that before, but didn't touch it. - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1816394
(other very minimal testing; media keys (up, down, mute) all worked etc) - switching another box

firefox; watch local news (abc au; drm enabled) in window, maximized, f11 & fullscreen
thunar to open hdd, go to hdd & open files using installed apps (jpg, pdf, txt, mp3 etc)
generic play; change window manager buttons changed; rollup works, ctrl+alt+t works etc
suspended, waited, resumed with esc key & session continued

adjust display to match my setup (one display below other)
firefox; stream local (abc) news in window (required me to enable-drm), maximized; f11 & fullscreen on each display, media keys adjusted volume, muted, umute
thunar, explore hdd partitions & open found files using installed apps (ogg, jpg, pdf, txt etc)
ctrl+alt+T worked as expected, random apps (~2 from each category) opened from menu (super key wasn't opening menu, my hands aren't good enough to open all apps using mice)
suspended system, waited, it resumed & continued with news stream
