dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)
testcase: install using existing partition
reboot & select mantic install; looks untouched
reboot & select jammy install; looks untouched
reboot & select [new] noble install; clementine & other apps (bad fortune) as expected..`ls / -ltrh` represents what is expected for re-install of this type, /var/log/installer/mediainfo is current RC etc
I didn't reboot & check debian trixie.. assuming that's good (noticed it at grub, will run it late today)

hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 8gb, amd/ati rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)
testcase: minimal, encryption, BIOS, no-internet, no-swap

this install is good, no swap, no snap infrastructure detected...

i did start redshift during post-install checks and it gave a rather terse geolocation2 error.. users may not see connection between that long/technical Wayland mentioned error message & lack-of-internet.. but ignoring as unrelated to install QA test.

testcase: install using existing partition
(re-using sda2... sda1 left untouched... checking for https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/2060624 , packages clementine, fortune .. added to system prior to run.. didn't add music or data files though to $HOME)

install completed..
- reboot & select untouched install; looks untouched as expected
- reboot & select new install, looks as expected.. command history present (from prior install as no format).. even THUNDERBIRD SNAP is installed (I didn't select that.. but I did install that on a prior install earlier today so that would be why)... present though is clementine.. fortune (bad joke as expected) etc.. file-system meta-data [system directories] matches a new install (not earlier today)

testcase: replace partition
& I'll select to add thunderbird (3rd party) -- no thunderbird last time;; I assume that was my failure, so this repeat install to verify my boo-boo or issue
reboot & select untouched system... yep still untouched
reboot & select new install; yep new & system as expected.. WITH THUNDERBIRD this time..
(assuming op/me error last time)
-- ignoring graphic issues on first boot.. lxqt is redrawing screen as if screen change which includes a fullscreen terminal changing display (not fun).. but unrelated to install

install completed; reboot, login & all checks good

i noted some graphics issues.. seen this on occasion lately (i assume kernel related & kernel module required for graphics.. but ignoring it given this is an install QA test)... the graphics issue would interrupt LXQt (balloon re: monitor setup would appear & whatever you were doing would cancel) but again not install related.. install itself great.
