Raw QEMU+KVM VM, 4 GB RAM, 15 GB disk space.
testcase: full disk, encryption, BIOS, internet, no-swap, install using another language.
Installation successful, rebooted, tried and failed to unlock the disk several times (forgot the passphrase, then had keyboard layout confusion), remembered the passphrase, then figured out a keyboard layout anomaly and *then* managed to unlock the disk. Auto-logged in, verified that the UI was (mostly) in Spanish. Launched LibreOffice to confirm that needed localization packages were installed. Launched Firefox and browsed social media, used the LMMS Wikipedia page for audio testing. Forgot to check if the swapfile really was absent.

dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)
testcase: install using existing partition

having trouble getting the thumb-drive to boot on this box; I use the box daily for many hours each night, but it hasn't liked recent USB media for booting for some reason... ignoring as box specific I'm convinced.... and as so late in the cycle I don't want to use another box

reboot & selected the new system; media is 0417 as expected; used history to show the prior checks; bad joke from fortune, clementine started with my playlist & music, external USB drive was connected with data present on quick scan; package diff had nothing that worried me etc.
reboot & selected the lubuntu jammy system, looks untouched & how it should
reboot & selected the lubuntu kinetic system, it's logging in now so will end here & assume its good too
will reboot & check debian too; assuming good

HP Chromebook G4, 4 GB RAM, 256 GB SD card as install target, UEFI.
testcase: custom partitioning with XFS
Installation successful, rebooted, logged in, launched Firefox and browsed social media, used Wikipedia's LMMS page for audio testing. Verified that the right FS was in use with "lsblk -f". "swapon" indicated that there was a swapfile.

HP Pavilion dv7, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, old NVIDIA graphics, 1st gen Core i7, BIOS.
testcase: custom partitioning with BTRFS
Used a GPT partition table with a bios-grub partition and a single BTRFS partition on /. Installation successful, rebooted, auto-logged in, launched Firefox, browsed social media and used the same LMMS Wikipedia page for sound testing. Used "lsblk -f" and KDE Partition Manager to verify that the filesystem and partitions were right, and also used "swapon" to verify that there was a swapfile.

selected sda1; so will replace dc7700-1 ($HOSTNAME) install
reboot & select untouched install; it was dc7700-2 install as expected; looked untouched & good
reboot & select new install; as expected dc7700-3 .. all checks done & all great

note: I was careful not to touch monitor.settings this time; but did check moving a couple of windows around & no issues (drag felt slow..)

hp dc7700 (c2d-e6230, 7gb amd/ati rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)
testcase: install alongside

whilst install was running, I liked how the wallpaper looked good split across screens, then wondered how given the resolution differs in them, so went & looked at monitor.setup.. saw the overlap & strange alignment so corrected that.. alas now I have a huge gap between screens... ie. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-config/+bug/1882411

this visual effect does not impact the installer (it continues running and won't impact install I bet

rebooted & selected prior install; looks untouched & great (ignoring reduced disk size)
reboot & select new install.. all looks good on operation (overlap of displays is evident in monitor.settings but that's a non-install issue thus ignoring)... all operational checks passed (using default monitor.settings)

testcase: custom partitioning with separate /home
Installed with an existing 23.04 installation alongside. Shrunk existing install to 64 GB. made a new install with a primary 32 GB partition and an extended partition holding the rest of the drive's space. / was put on the 32 GB partition, /home on a partition inside the extended partition filling the rest of the drive. All filesystems were ext4. Installation successful, both operating systems were usable. Tested sounds with Wikipedia's LMMS page, browsed social media on Firefox on the new install. Booted into the old install and played 2048-qt and used "aplay" for sound testing.

You can "enable" encryption and then not provide a passphrase for the disk,
in which case Calamares will do an unencrypted installation (#2016828)

HP Chromebook G4, 4 GB RAM, 16 GB eMMC chip as install target. testcase: full disk, no-encryption, EFI, no-internet, no-swap. This started out as an encryption-enabled install but for testing purposes I left the disk passphrase blank, which it turns out resulted in Calamares not encrypting my drive at all (which makes sense since I didn't provide any encryption passphrase). Installation successful, rebooted, was logged in automatically as I enabled autologin during the installation. Used "aplay" to test audio, and played 2048. (Firefox launches but as I was doing a no-internet test I didn't connect to WiFi to test it.) Verified that no swapfile was present with "swapon".
