hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)
testcase: install using existing partition

3rd attempt; file space created by `rm /jammy*.ISO` for some grub question & re-try of prior..
no "no space" issues this time, but same result as prior two attempts :(

hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)
testcase: install using existing partition

(this install is complicated; 22.04 was installed to this but refused to GUI login; if a GUI login fails here it WILL NOT be reported as an install failure; but I hope to gain more details on what my issue is, then return to test installing 22.04... I suspect issue on this box is my usage of it for support has corrupted something - thus issue my-creation (this install type means existing config survives!)... thus a successful install on this box is no issues during install; and everything looks good to me with text login; plus of course opensuse & fedora booting... I expect this install to work (but then I expected 22.04 to install & login to GUI fine too!)

install will be confirmed with the d780 box which I know is a working & non-corrupted box

the NEXT/CANCEL buttons in calamares are hidden by the panel :(I'm ignoring this; I've just changed the lxqt-panel to autohide...).. I'll look for this in *kinetic* & deal with if/when I see it there.

rebooting now; no clear indication of which partition is ubuntu, so I'll not guess as I don't want to lose fedora/opensuse
-- must use SDA1 & SDA2 (ESP & /)

after reboot & I didn't adjust screens (to match my setup) & this time panel is not blocking bottom of calamares screen...

problem referred to in bug

on reboot & selection of Ubuntu (5.15 kernel); alas that's 22.04 GA & new 20.04 HWE so hard to say which it was, but kernel panic so I'm betting the ESP wasn't updated.... I glanced (quickly) at calamares.log but wasn't worried as expected to need to re-install... I'll attempt (after FSCK & partition check)

dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)
testcase: install using existing partition
reboot & lubuntu jammy looks untouched (logged in)
reboot & lubuntu impish looks untouched (logged in)
reboot & lubuntu focal looks untouched (from gui when logged in), but exploring file-system and metadata reflects a new install - ie. as expected... only package wanting update is `firefox` but if install hadn't been performed I'd expect far more (I didn't check)
I'll validate debian bookworm (later) & am assuming it's all good too.
