Boot up the image
If you see the GRUB boot menu you should see the following:
  • 'Try or Install Lubuntu'
  • 'Lubuntu (safe graphics)'
  • 'OEM install (for manufacturers)'
  • 'Test memory' (only on BIOS systems)
  • The system boots properly and loads the installer displaying the Welcome dialog with language selection and 'Try Lubuntu' and 'Install Lubuntu' buttons
Click on the release notes hyperlink to confirm that a browser launches and you are taken to the release notes discourse page.
Click on the Install Lubuntu button
    The 'Keyboard layout' screen appears
The proposed keyboard corresponds with your keyboard
Select your keyboard layout and click on Continue
The 'Updates and other software' screen is displayed
On the screen 'Updates and other software', note the availability of the following components
Available options should represent the state of your system accurately
    • (If network is available) 'Download updates while installing Lubuntu'
    • (If on a 'laptop') 'Is plugged to a power source'
    • 'Install third-party software...' option available
    Click on the Continue button
The 'Installation type' screen is displayed
Select Install Lubuntu XX.XX alongside SYSTEM YY
(SYSTEM YY is the name of the system already installed on disk (Lubuntu 12.04, Windows 7, ...)
    Click on Continue

Note the drive selected on the Select drive list and the bar state

Move the greyslider bar that separates the blue sections as appropriate
The slider bar can be set as appropriate
Click on the Install Now button
A dialog will appear asking if you want to write the changes to disk. Click Continue.
The 'Where are you?' screen is displayed
If your system is connected to the network, note the preselected timezone corresponds with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box
The timezone and city displayed match your timezone and a major city from your area
Select your timezone, and click on the Continue button
The 'Who are you?' screen appears
Input your initial user details and password admin can not be used - it is a dedicated Linux User
'Require my password to log in' is shown and selected or if 'Log in automatically' and 'require my password to log in' are shown then 'Require my password to login' is selected. If just 'Require my password to log in' is shown, having it off is the equivalent of having 'Log in automatically' on.
Name, username and password are accepted.
    Continue button becomes available
    Press Continue
The 'Welcome to Lubuntu' slide is displayed
The slideshow is entirely in your language
Wait for the installer to finish
    An 'Installation Complete' dialog appears
    Click the 'Restart Now' button
GUI is shut down, a prompt to remove media and press Enter appears

hp dx6120mt (mini-tower, pentium 4 dual core, 3gb, winfast clone of nvidia 7600gt)
sda only enabled in bios, contains a entire.disk qa-test install

    YUK!!!!
Failed to create a file system.
The ext4 file system created in partition #5 of SCSI5 (0,0,0) (sdb) failed ...

SDB is the thumb-drive?... this has happened before, but I only noted in comments here, this time I'll file a bug... (last time I was worried SDB meant my hdd which I know has badblocks; SDB is the thumb-drive I worked out too late for last time)

it's not moving past it this time, I hit OK and nothing changes (either it repeats message instantly, or more likely it's not responding other than visual click)

had issue http://launchpad.net/bugs/1890872 again... however the type of install won't matter as the issue occurred before I actually selected the install type..

there are NO crash files in /var/crash, and whilst I was convinced ~10 mins ago this was an exact repeat, it's occurred at a different time, but effect is identical (no OKAY box not responding though, just window opened with even it's title?? or was title there and it blanked & I forget as I gave it time.. I wondering if it's a box issue (not ubiquity)

I quit `ubiquity`, waited & have started (install) again (no reboot).. (there is no swap on this system, I only see a single partition/install using terminal)
    install completed successfully this time

reboot, login to initial system, looks good (size, touched files etc)
reboot & login to freshly installed system, all blank & look good

prior attempt failed, but disk shows only full disk install on cursory glance so re-trying
reboot, login to new system - all looks good (correct hostname, disk space as expected etc)
reboot, select old system at grub, all looks good with prior evaluation command history, hostname etc
