Install the specific release you wish to dist-upgrade from
Install all updates available for the release you want to upgrade by running update-manager. Click Check if any update is availabe, and click Install to install them
Watch it update, noting any errors
Reboot into your new system:

  • Any errors encountered after rebooting to new desktop?
  • Does your hardware still work properly?
  • Are you experiencing any application or background service crashes?

Update manager was showing upgrade to be a Partial. I used synaptic. Very slow to respond, compiz bug reported.
