hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)
manual partitioning; separate /home (I hope 755_5 will provide the update for checklist; I'll use this box if I have issues on d755_5; but I'll do some installs here anyway in exploration of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calamares/+bug/1945849)

adjusted larger sda2 to make it smaller within calamares; then created two new partitions; one for / & one for /home -- roughly same as prior EXCEPT I've used more space
reboot & login to prior installs (lubuntu impish on sda1 & sda2) - both perfect & as expected

login to new system & it's exactly as expected..

dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
gotta fix up failure; partition in KDE partition manager prior to install; then select partitions to install; as before but two steps & it's good.
---
it booted up at a strange resolution; was somewhat hard to read (display is 16:10 & the resolution it was using for display meant some pixels were missing .. I just changed resolution (from 1650x1050) to one (1650x1200) that better suited & ignored issue.. the resolution issue occurs on this box only about 1 in 800 boots with live media & I've ignored without exploring - it's too rare to find any pattern

--
i also had issues on deleting partition in KDE partition manager; tried twice & failures.. I just rebooted & tried again and it was all good... I'll assume I didn't reboot & ignore (KDE partition will fail at things if reboot isn't performed; didn't look for the bug that relates to that issue)

reboot & focal.3 system looks good & untouched
reboot & new impish system (on JFS now) has expected errors on Ctrl+Alt+T (packages not restored due to format of /), but system itself
I'll assume win.xp is good (it takes ages to boot) & I don't have time for game
