| dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
testcase: custom partitioning with separate /home; sda8 / (no format; so using existing partition) & sda9 /home (sda8 & 9 maybe swapped; ext4 /home & will leave reiserfs /)
reboot & login to lubuntu 20.04.3, (logged into KDE; unexpected but I load multiple DEs)
reboot & login to freshly installed system; it looks as it should (suse - what it was long ago); extra packages were install except for nfs-common? but maybe i forget to install that (which fits; I had an XFS or BTRFS fail awhile back late @ night & i hurriedly reformatted reiserfs & likely only re-install packages that gave errors at terminal - all packages used by my scripts were installed though!)
reboot & will test xp; assuming that's good
