As ItzSwirlz suggested, filing my testing on a desktop install as a 'live session' test.
Ran through the manual tests ( ) for About Me, About MATE, and (most of) Atril on Ubuntu MATE 21.04 on my PackardBell iMedia S1710. Gave up after the lock screen / desktop failed to come up after leaving the computer for a while, and then rebooting threw me into longstanding bug 1522976 which I haven't kernel bisected yet. Whilst I was testing filed 1921582 which I'm not sure is reproducible but hopefully the logs are helpful, and 1921588 which is a known issue (probably Won't Fix) but which I couldn't find a bug filed for, so filed it.
