1899308

It affects an old HP Elitebook 8560p: Some old (at that time maybe middle-aged) HP computers refuse to boot
. in BIOS mode
- from a USB drive
- via grub
- in a GUID partition table (GPT).

Workaround: In mkusb's settings menu for a persistent live drive I selected

- MSDOS partition table
- usb-pack-efi

motion computing j3400 (c2d-u9400, 4gb, intel mobile 4 series)
boot primarily to ensure http://launchpad.net/bugs/1899308 isn't an issue
quick exploration using wacom pen & look around
pcmanfm-qt to navigate to internal ssd, open some files using installed apps; one pdf failed to load but I'll ignore that as others were fine (assuming that chosen was is corrupt or my error; it was a printer loffice ods I'd printed & maybe later modified..)

dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
primarily just a boot; will look around a little, but primarily testing for http://launchpad.net/bugs/1899308 which is impacting 2x boxes thus far
(I navigated to my internal drive in pcmanfm-qt & opened a few files using installed apps, no issues)

dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
I'm having trouble booting in another box (dc7700) so this is primarily to re-test thumb-drive (which has already been tested to work elsewhere) before I re-test for 4th time in dc7700
minimal testing, really just boot & move mouse around a bit..

Lubuntu boots in a Lenovo V130 in UEFI mode (and secure boot), where previous Groovy iso files failed according to bug #1886148. It seems that bug #1895329 is squashed too.
