Ran 2 tests today in VirtualBox -in the first machine I had a SATA Virtual disk and could select "erase disk" which I selected and the install failed. Next I selected "replace a partition" and all went well.
On the second virtual machine I used an IDE virtual disk and the "erase disk" option was not available - "replace a partition" worked successfully.
