Lubuntu 19.10 and focal live cloned create and mount casper-rw partition. It is particularly bad, that the live-only system mounts the casper-rw partition.

dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)
// the primary purpose of this is exploration of a support issue (window opening in a strange position in 19.10), 'live' is a 'clean' system and currently very close to 19.10
adjust display positions (one display portrait-left tilted; swap left-right at first, then position relative to other screen changed many times during session)
pcmanfm-qt to open hdd & grab files to play with (copied to 'live' $HOME
open some vids with `vlc` & other stuff as generic test (during test `pcmanfm` was apt installed too)
testing for support, adjust displays & test again repeated many times (copy/delete files in pcmanfm-qt & pcmanfm, change screen etc for support-question ; no issues.
no issues during ~15mins of test looking for what OP described on discourse...

dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)
// i was using debian-bullseye & discovered the missing bug I couldn't find last test... I needed to have landscape+portrait monitor, so testing for that now.
check install media; boot, adjust displays to match my setup (swap left-right, my right is portrait-left tilted, my-left display is primary, top of displays are level, so portrait-right-tilted extends lower than landscape-left display)
add panel to each display has panel at bottom, populate with menu, desktops, volume & clock
generic play - menu now opens (landscape-menu) as if bottom-of-display panel is same height as the other screen, or near 9cm above panel - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-panel/+bug/1810075
NOTE: this is an upstream LXQt bug, reported first with debian.. and also opensuse and upstream...

bug 1849835 is fixed by this daily iso file :-) I could use add-apt-repository for ppa:mkusb/ppa, install mkusb and check that it works correctly. My test is by no means complete, but what I tested works. (I know that @guiverc is chasing a bunch of bugs.)
