dell latitude d610 (pentium m, 1024mb, i915)
boot live iso, check-disk-for-errors which reports clean, boot lubuntu (didn't select anything, let it time out to english & try). ethernet recognized; add my wifi - connect wifi, `sudo apt update`, calc life-universe-everything in calculator, use featherpad to create blah.c; gcc to compile; vim to correct typos, execute blah, falkon to stream abc-24 (aussie news); very nice warning from `featherpad` when it detected I'd modified file using `vim` - all excellent.

ibm thinkpad t43 (pentium m, 1.5gb ram, radeon x300)
boot lubuntu 18.10 x86, open falkon stream abc-24 (aussie news) briefly, close it. `sudo apt update; sudo apt install nfs-common` so I could `mount` some shares, use `vlc` to play some music (from mounted nfs share) .... browse menus & select random apps; once loaded alt-f4 to close then select neext app etc., all good

hp dx6120 (mini-tower, pentium 4 dual core, nvidia 7600gt, 1.5gb ram)
boot lubuntu 18.10 daily image, select a few apps at random, alt-f4 to close once loaded, load terminal, use featherpad to create blah.c, gcc to compile (/0 warning), execute (core dump), use vim to remove my intentional divby0; compile, run. all normal. load falkon, search music & youtube, have it open one (chosen music played on headset, window stayed all white) - at completion it returned to list. (yesterday falkon abended).. on selection of another it appeared to freeze
