mate-tweak crashed with SIGSEGV in settings_backend_path_changed() (#1757576)

Thinkpad T420. Most of what I tried worked. I don't know if any of these are critical bugs.
Like with xubuntu, boot was slow - about 60s until a pointer appeared, followed by desktop. Also it went straight to the desktop, skipping the Try or Install choice.
Power Stats has old bug 1721282, org:Freedesktop.UPower.GeneralError: cannot enable timerstats. This did not use huge amounts of CPU & RAM though, which apparently used to happen.
Mate Tweak: the first time I loaded Traditional, the panels disappeared. In terminal, neither mate-panel --reset nor mate-panel --reset --replace worked. Changing the panel style again brought them back and I could not replicate the disappearance to file a bug.
1765557: Mate Tweak crashed while I was doing other things, with message mate-tweak crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
