Near end of install, I get a window popup "Unable to install GRUB in /dev/sda" with text "Executing 'grub-install /dev/sda' failed. This is a fatal error." THen I am presented with option to install elsewhere, and I pick the ssd drive built into my labtop on /dev/sdb/ and same fatal error for /dev/sdb, as well as for the other options availalbe /dev/sda2 and /dev/sdb1. I haven't had such a problem before on my labtop (Dell M4500) which I have installed Arch/Parabola and various debian-derived distros. Edit: upon reboot this morning, sucesfully loaded lubuntu. Minor issues were USB attached mouse did not work, although trackpad and PS/2 mouse worked, and there was no wifi by default so had to use wired, and the lxrandr only listed 640x480 as resolution, but my monitor supports up to 1080p. I am new at testing, so I don't know the proper way to report these issues.

Also the following may be considered a "feature" by whoever updated the installer, but I would consider poor visual design: I tagged bugs 1408197 because in the Preparing to install Lubuntu window dailog, the "Download updates while installing" and "Install this third-party software" should have a text box frame next to it but doesn't. When clicking on that line of text, I am able to toggle a visible check mark on and off, however, I do not see the frame of the check box. I don't know if the (l)ubuntu developers are considering this a "feature", but if I were a new user, I wouldn't know just from looking at it that there is an option to toggle these options on/off, as when the window first renders, there is no visible way to determine this.

On the other hand, the next page "Installation type" asks the users with a question mark "What would you like to do?" and even though there is no empty circle next to the non-selected options, a new user would see the filled circle next to the default install option, and thus know it is a multiple-choice selection. But I would still cretique this installation page because without an empty circle, it is not perfectly clear that those other options could be selected if wanted to select them. Additionally, I find that only pressing the first line of text for each option will change the selection, but pressing the second line of each option doesn't change the selection, although imho the second line of each option is still part of the selection. In fact when I first tried changing selection, I got confused because the black circle wouldn't move, untill I discovered that I had to press the first line of each selection. Now while some people may prefer not having these empty circles or empty checkboxes, I think such a configuration choice would be better suited as something the user can change after install, but such a potentially confusing setup should not be used in the default install setup.
