Alpha had bugs with FGLRX (I think) and would not boot with external monitor attached. Works fine now.

Install successful dual boot to 40 GB USB hard drive partition, defined ahead of time by gparted.

Ubiquity asked for wireless WPA password but never did connect. Not a problem.
