Can't boot install CD (#946587)

It gets as far as yaboot an then won't go further, saying "Read failed". It says

"Welcome to yaboot version 1.3.16
Enter "help" to get some basic usage information
boot: live
Please wait, loading kernel...
Read failed"

I get this on two different pieces of hardware.
