  1. Boot up the iso using a CD/DVD or USB Key
    1. System boots to 'Select Language'
  2. Select Install Ubuntu and press Enter
    1. System displays 'Select Location'
  3. Select location and press Enter
    1. The default for your location and language should already be selected.
  4. Select the layout you wish to use on the keyboard and press Enter

  5. Add a hostname for the machine and press Enter
    1. You should be prompted for your name
  6. Type in your name and press Enter
    1. You should be prompted for a user name
  7. Type in your user name and press Enter (you can accept the default if you wish).
    1. You should be prompted to enter a password
  8. Add a password and press Enter
    1. You should be prompted to confirm ( If you entered a weak password, confirm that you want to keep it or select no and enter a stronger one).
  9. Confirm password and press Enter
    1. You should be asked if you wish to encrypt your home directory
  10. Select No for encrypted home directory and press Enter
    1. You should see confirmation of your time zone
  11. Verify that the pre-selected time zone is correct or select your time zone and press Enter
    1. You will be presented with formatting options
  12. Select Guided - resize "drive details" and use freed space and press Enter
    1. You should see that is has used 50% of the free area
    2. Sub test case 1: Repeat the test case and select the minimum size for the partition
    3. Sub test case 2: Repeat the test case and select the maximum size for the partition
      1. You should see the changes that will be made and verify that it corresponds to what you requested.
  13. Select Yes to the notice and press Enter to write changes to disk
    1. You should see a request for http proxy information
  14. Input http proxy info or press Enter
    1. Wait for a while - The install may seem like it has locked at a percentage but is actually working in the background. You can check and see if it is working by switching to tty3 (alt + f4).
  15. Select Yes to install grub boot loader to master boot record and press Enter
    1. You should see a request to confirm date and time
  16. Select Yes to setting your clock to utc and press Enter
    1. You should be requested to remove the CD / USB key
  17. Remove the CD / USB key and press Enter
    1. This should then reboot the machine
  18. Log in and check the desktop is installed
    1. You should be able to log in and the desktop should be displayed
  19. Ask the machine to reboot
    1. Machine should reboot
  20. Login and check the system installed correctly
    1. Menus should be displayed
