  1. Boot up the iso using a CD/DVD or USB Key to a Live Session
    1. The system boots properly
  2. When you see the aubergine screen with an icon at the bottom, press any key to get the menu
    1. Language list will appear
  3. Select your language and then press Enter
    1. The installer menu is displayed
  4. Press F4 and select ‘OEM Install (for manufacturers)’’ and press Enter
    1. The installer menu is displayed again
  5. Press Enter on the ‘Try FAMILY without installing’ option
    1. The live session is loaded
  6. Double Click on ‘Install FAMILY’
    1. The ubiquity installer starts, with a welcome dialog with language selection
  7. Click on continue
    1. The 'Preparing to install FAMILY' screen is displayed
  8. On the screen Preparing to install FAMILY, note the state of each check mark for the following components
    • Your system have at least the amount a space indicated
    • Is plugged to a power source
    • Is connected to the Internet
    1. Check marks represent the state of your system accurately
  9. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Installation type' screen is displayed
  10. Note the state of the 'Check Erase Disk and install FAMILY' radio button
    1. The 'Check Erase Disk and install FAMILY' radio button should be checked
  11. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Erase Disk and install FAMILY' is displayed
  12. Verify that the drive selected on the Select drive list correspond to the drive on the chart (e.g /dev/sda)
    1. Selected drive is displayed on the chart
  13. Verify that the full drive space is allocated
    1. Full drive space is allocated for installation
  14. Click on Install Now button
    1. The 'Where are you?' screen is displayed
  15. If your system is connected to the network, note the preselected timezone correspond with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box
    1. The timezone and city displayed match your timezone and a city from your area
  16. Click on the map to a different timezone of your choice
    1. The the corresponding city is displayed in the text field and the new timezone is selected
  17. Re-enter the name of a city from your are
    1. The input field and a drop down list opens with a list of items matching the name you entered
  18. Select the name of the city from your area
    1. The timezone and city are update to your new selection
  19. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Keyboard Layout' screen appears
  20. Note the Keyboard layout and variant, and type some characters in the test area
    1. Correct keyboard layout and variant are selected from timezone information by default, and the proper characters display when typed
  21. Click on Detect Keyboard Layout and answer to the questions asked
    1. The proposed keyboard corresponds to your keyboard
  22. Click on continue
    1. The 'Who are you?' screen appears
  23. Input password for the oem user
    1. Name, username and password are accepted. Additionally, the continue button is enabled
  24. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Welcome to FAMILY ' slide is displayed
  25. Wait for the installation to proceed and the slide to change automatically
    1. The slideshow appears correct, the installer displays installation details along the bottom and the slideshow changes slides
  26. Click the left and right arrow buttons next to the slides
    1. The slide changes slides in the proper direction as indicated by the click
  27. Wait for the installer to finish
    1. An 'Installation Complete' dialog appears
  28. Click the Restart now button
    1. GUI is shut down, a prompt to remove media and press Enter appears
  29. Remove the disc and press enter
    1. The machine has been rebooted
  30. Allow the machine to reboot
    1. The system boots properly and loads into FAMILY
  31. Execute the following command on the command line to install any updates that may be present
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    1. The system updates and installs new packages (if any exist)
  32. Restart the computer
    1. The system restarts and boots into the FAMILY desktop
  33. Double click the ‘Prepare for shipping to end user’ icon on the desktop
    1. The OEM config preparation window appears
  34. Enter your oem password and click ok
    1. The window is closed
  35. Shutdown the machine and remove the install disc. Turn the machine back on
    1. The system boots into the end-user installer (Note that any case where the user is taken out of a graphical experience should be filed as a bug)
  36. Select a language and click Continue
    1. The timezone screen is displayed
  37. Select a timezone and click Continue
    1. Keyboard Layout screen is displayed
  38. Select a keyboard layout and click Continue
    1. User details screen is displayed
  39. Add end user details and click Continue
    1. After a wait, the login screen appears
  40. Type in the ‘end users’ username and password and hit enter
    1. The machine logins successfully
  41. Execute the following command on the command line:
    lsb_release -rd
    1. Both the description and the release presented matches the version of FAMILY you installed
  42. Execute the following command on the command line:
    arch
    1. Verify the result correctly lists the architecture of the installation you installed. For example, x86_64 for 64-bit x86 machine.
  43. Execute the following command on the command line:
    sudo sfdisk -l
    1. Verify the partition scheme displayed matches the partition scheme you chose during installation
  44. Execute the following command on the command line:
    sudo apt-get update
    1. Apt should hit each of the package mirrors and update all of them without error
  45. Launch 'update-manager' (for quantal this is being renamed to software-updater) and install any updates presented
    1. The updates are downloaded and installed without error
  46. Launch 'firefox' and navigate to http://www.FAMILY.com
    1. The FAMILY homepage is loaded and displays properly
  47. Launch 'Time & Date' settings menu and note the timezone information and local time and date
    1. The timezone, date and time should match the settings you selected during installation
  48. If you installed a non-english version of FAMILY, note the language used on the desktop
    1. The desktop should be localized into your language, or it should have prompted you upon initial login to install the missing components for your language
