  1. Boot up the iso using a CD/DVD or USB Key to a Live Session
    1. The system boots properly and loads the installer displaying Welcome dialog with language selection and 'Try FAMILY' and 'Install FAMILY' buttons
  2. Click on the Install FAMILY icon
    1. The 'Preparing to install FAMILY' screen is displayed
  3. On the screen Preparing to install FAMILY, note the state of each check mark for the following components
    • Your system have at least the amount a space indicated
    • Is plugged to a power source
    • Is connected to the Internet
    1. Check marks represent the state of your system accurately
  4. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Installation type' screen is displayed
  5. Select Install FAMILY XX.XX alongsite SYSTEM YY
    1. (SYSTEM YY is the name of the system already installed on disk (FAMILY 12.04, Windows 7, ...)
  6. Click on Forward
    1. The Screen Install FAMILY XX.XX alongsite SYSTEM YY appears
  7. Note the drive selected on the Select drive list and the bar state
    1. The drive corresponds to the drive on the chart (e.g /dev/sda) and the bar is divided in half (e.g. 50%).
  8. Move the slider bar that separates the grey sections to 50%
    1. The slider bar can be set to 50%
  9. Click on Install now button
    1. A confirmation dialog ‘Write previous changes to disk and continue’ is displayed
  10. Click on continue button
    1. The partition is resized and the 'Where are you?' screen is displayed
  11. If your system is connected to the network, note the preselected timezone correspond with your timezone and the city indicated in the text box
    1. The timezone and city displayed match your timezone and a city from your area
  12. Click on the map to a different timezone of your choice
    1. The the corresponding city is displayed in the text field and the new timezone is selected
  13. Re-enter the name of a city from your are
    1. The input field and a drop down list opens with a list of items matching the name you entered
  14. Select the name of the city from your area
    1. The timezone and city are update to your new selection
  15. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Keyboard Layout' screen appears
  16. Note the Keyboard layout and variant, and type some characters in the test area
    1. Correct keyboard layout and variant are selected from timezone information by default, and the proper characters display when typed
  17. Click on Detect Keyboard Layout and answer to the questions asked
    1. The proposed keyboard corresponds to your keyboard
  18. Click on continue
    1. The 'Who are you?' screen appears
  19. Input your initial user details and password (Note admin can not be used - it is a dedicated Linux User)
    1. Name, username and password are accepted. Additionally, the continue button is enabled
  20. Click on the continue button
    1. If your hardware contains a webcam, you should see a "Choose your picture" screen appear. Otherwise, skip the next step, and proceed to the 'welcome to FAMILY ' slide
  21. Use the Take Photo button to take a picture of yourself
    1. The picture should appear in the box, and upon reboot should display next to your username
  22. Click on the continue button
    1. The 'Welcome to FAMILY ' slide is displayed
  23. Wait for the installation to proceed and the slide to change automatically
    1. The slideshow appears correct, the installer displays installation details along the bottom and the slideshow changes slides
  24. Click the left and right arrow buttons next to the slides
    1. The slide changes slides in the proper direction as indicated by the click
  25. Wait for the installer to finish
    1. An 'Installation Complete' dialog appears
  26. Click the Restart now button
    1. GUI is shut down, a prompt to remove media and press Enter appears
  27. Remove the disc and press enter
    1. The machine has been rebooted
  28. Allow the machine to reboot
    1. The system boots properly and loads into FAMILY
