Installer fails at "Select and Install software" stage. Red screens displays message indicating "Installation step failed".

Installations attempted on VirtualBox and Vmware with same result. 9.10 installs successfully under the same conditions.

MD5SUM and 'CD check' on image both pass.

As per previous bugs of this sort (478754 415812 261025 85942), I have tried variations of installs with and without 2d/3d suite, audio suite, audio plugins and video suite. However install continues to fail at 'Select and install software'

After the failure, I'm allowed to continue installing boot loader. I can then successfully boot into a basic Ubuntu system without X or any extra packages.
