| Same problem like Lance (#494642) on a Dell Inspiron 1520 with NVIDIA 8600MGT. From the first phase of booting it seem problems with graphics recognition, also the white Ubuntu logo before X start looks bad.

| I had to select Safe Graphics Mode (even to view the Check Disc results) which is odd. My graphics card has been supported since at least Gutsy (VIA P4M800). I also experienced a hard lockup in the Live environment while trying to file an automated bug report.
I suspect an Xorg issue because I've also had trouble in Karmic without Xorg crack upgrades.
