| Ubuntu usplash screen appears when installing Xubuntu
On my 1.2Ghz PIII with 384MB Ram, installation stalled for about 9 minutes at 6% into Select and Install Software. On the 400Mhz PII with 256MB Ram, it stalled for about 45 minutes at the same place.
I use static IP addresses; could not find a way to use Network Manager to change from DHCP to static IP. It greys out the OK as soon as I deselect automatic DHCP.
I found how to enter the static IP, but it defies logic. I had to add a connection, instead of edit the existing eth0 connection. Still can't connect with domain names, but can use IP addresses.
Following instructions given, I attempted to install GRUB to /dev/hda7. This gave a fatal error, since we now use SCSI drive id's. Changing to /dev/sda7 allowed the GRUB to install. This also allowed testing the rescue portion of the cd.
Apparently, if a link that is created on the Desktop is bad, it can not be deleted directly, but instead you must open /home/$USER/Desktop and delete it there.
