Complete fresh install of Gutsy
System Specs:
AM2 5600+; Asus M2N-E sli mobo; MSI Nvidia 8600GTS with 256M; 2G system Memory; onboard usb sound device; 40g Western Digital, SATA DVD burner.

Install failed;

- Ubuntu load/boot screen, scrolling bar had artifacts;
Activate eth0 to setup network(ifup);
Start install, using Entire Disk
Partitioner stuck @ 53% disk scan;
Tried to install NTFS tool, and tried to run GParted - both non-responsive; caused system to be non-responsive (found later 40g drive caused this);
CTRL-BACKSPACE to reload GUI - 1731.340000 Buffer I/O error on fd0, logical block 0. I have no floppy installed.

Tried installing with IDE dvd writer:

Install failed;

- Scrolling Ubuntu bar at boot had artifacts;
Beeped about 5-8 times rapidly;
Started Network with ifup and configured;
GParted stuck at scanning (later found the 40g HD caused when in system);
Ran install, using full disk, stuck at 46%.
Error no. 5 I/O error (check harddrive for errors, or install cd);
CD Integrity check found no problems.

Install again using 80g HD, with 40g completely removed from system and using the SATA DVD writer;
Very Fast boot time;
Complete install with no errors - Success!

- Setup network (onboard 10/100/1000);
MSI nvidia 8600 GTS showing restricted drivers;
Downloaded all updates;
rebooted.

Currently:

About 1g of patches since initial install;
World of Warcraft using Wine isnt working (more on that when I can troubleshoot);
The bottom Gnome panel randomly hides itself (autohide off);
Nvidia still using Restricted Drivers, looks for libc when manually installing drivers from nvidia.com (more later when it works);
GParted is no longer in any of my menus (as in Fiesty), but works from terminal;
When running Gparted, it looks for a fd0 that isnt there;
When 40g Western Digital drive is installed, system boots, but GParted gets stuck in scan -- this drive was running Fiesty Fawn, upgrade maybe killed an already dying drive?
