Upgrade from Fiesty to Gutsy
System Specs:
AM2 5600+; Asus M2N-E sli mobo; MSI Nvidia 8600GTS with 256M; 2G system Memory; onboard usb sound device; 40g Western Digital.
After numerous failures towards the end, which I thought were simple errors that could be fixed after install, Gutsy tried to revert back to previous and failed. Errors included minor programs like Firefox and ALSA, amongst others, so I didnt report.
I could login with single user mode (going into GRUB and adding -s), but GUI wouldnt start. I eventually gave up when I could find nothing wrong with the xorg.conf and fstab.
Successful when booted with GUTSY CD and did clean install.
