This probably relates to all i386 install methods. [177141] Restricted-manager is not on the i386 manifest, does not get installed by default, and does not appear in System menu, unlike in 7.10 release. Consequently, user can't get desktop effects unless user knows to install restricted-manager first. [178467] After installing restricted-manager, compiz effects still don't work property because default Extra effects are not pre-set. [179020] Login & desktop have wrong resolution randomly about 30% of start-ups when using nVidia restricted driver but not when using open-source driver; new nVidia proprietary driver is available and should be included in 8.04 alpha-3 for testing. [162336] No system sounds; no midi sound; but Totem plays .ogg sound ok.
