cheese crashed with SIGSEGV in start_thread() (#574442)

I confirmed the bug occurrence (jockey-gtk crashed) and filed a note. With a sony vaio vgn fz21m I couldn't also load the firmware for the webcam, a ricoh one. With 10.04 installation in the same machine, I had to install the firmware compiling from source, otherwise it didn't work properly.
Testing the livecd with an Asus t101mt, I was happy to find the touchscreen working without any workaround. But cheese crashed and the webcam didn't show any image.
