This test case seemed to run fine on the April 19/2010 alternate install for ubuntu studio build on P4 512mb ram machine I had kicking around. No surprises or gotchas on this manual partition install... It guessed the right partition mountings for / and /home. However the test case at (http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/AlternateManual) - did not mention the software selection screen I got after it configured the apt system. I chose 2d/3d, audio, ladspa and dssi, video and continued. At the time of install I had an onboard sound, a uca202 usb audio interface and a logitech quickcam webcam plugged in.
after choosing the options for 2d/3d, audio, ladspa and dssi, video got finished installing a new box popped up asking if I wanted to enable realtime process priority, I chose Yes. It continued to install – this P4 is sloooooooowwwww. , then something else, then grub, then it finished successfully.
It booted fine and I logged in. Qjackctl hung on me and I will look into if this is a hardware problem or something else.
