gnome hangs each time short after desktop icons appear (mouse still moving but no reaction from gnomne only hard reset helps) unless booted in safe mode and without splash

Did boot correctly. However it failed to detect my Compaq v7500 CRT.

worked in third attempt:
the first boot one did hang without error output
second boot: (removed quiet and splash parameters) "error loading hardware drivers"
third boot: success (default boot options, but removed "quiet"
